Arabian Gypsy

On February 4th I will be on a plane to a land far far away... I will be sharing my thoughts, adventures and anything else I feel like here for everyone to see.

Desert life…

Isn’t that much different than the states.  Other than the fact that there is no rhyme or reason to the driving laws here.  I’m glad I can’t drive, I would have been in several accidents by now and would be having constant anxiety attacks!!! WP_001601.jpg This is 4 lanes of cars for a 1 lane entrance onto highway… The flight was loooong… but I wish I could’ve looked out the airplane window and seen all the things we were flying over! London, France, Italy, Greece, Egypt, Red Sea… I hope I can see all these things eventually.

Customs wasn’t bad at all, minus a hitch with finding my visa in the computer system, I was able to get my bags, and my cat, through without any questions or searching! I guess I cheated a bit… I covered my hair so that they didn’t really pay attention to me (that’s the way to do it!) Other than at the airport, I have not covered my hair at all. I do carry a scarf/shawl in case i’m told to, but so far there hasn’t been any cases of getting screamed at.

I’ve been to a shoe store that would draw in any lady! Really good prices and thousands of shoes!

2 of the malls here (There’s an amusement park in every mall)

WP_001622.jpg This is a toilet in the ladies bathroom at the mall.WP_001623.jpg Part of the bathroom where you’d wash your feet for prayer.

Grocery shopping (upstairs) then have to bring your cart downstairs with you on an escalator type thing (pretty cool!)  WP_001627.jpg  We saw whole rabbits for sale in the meat section (gross), and we also went to the suqs for souvenirs!!! :)

Yesterday it was hot! hot! hot! I even had to sleep with the air on, which is a first, normally I have had to have the heater on.

So my first week here I’ve managed to do alot! Considering I somehow managed to not get jet lag. Probably due to the fact that I slept part of the way to NYC… then only 4 hours on the flight here from JFK, then stayed up until 11 pm. I guess that is the way to do it!

Made it! This place is amazing. It’s so different than what I’m used to but each second is an adventure. Being with my family again makes me so happy. I’ve missed my brothers and sister immensely. Today I went to my first day of work. I made it through, barely. I’ve been a zombie all day. I can barely keep my eyes open right now! So ready for bed!!!!

Love this!!!

In September 2011, a friend and I drove up to Vancouver, BC and back. I have to say that the west coast is absolutely gorgeous!!! I hope I find something just as grandeur as this on my travels!!
